    Hello there and welcome to A Family Feast! We’re very happy you’re here, and we hope you’ll visit us whenever you are looking for delicious, kitchen-tested family recipes for everyday meals and special occasions. We love to cook and entertain, and we’re often asked to share many of our recipes. A Family Feast started out as a fun way for us to organize, document and share our recipes with family and friends – and we’ve been thrilled that so many of you have taken an interest in our recipes as well! I’m Martha and my husband is Jack. We live south of Boston, Massachusetts and are parents to a little girl, Emma, as well as our grown son Tim, daughter Courtney, and our best buddy and grandson JC! Cooking is something that my husband and I realized we had in common when we first met – in fact, part of our dating courtship was spent trying to impress each other by cooking some of our best recipes! (Jack always tells me that the moment he knew he wanted to marry me was when I made him my mushroom risotto for the first time.) We catered our own wedding for 100 guests (and survived to tell about it!) and our honeymoon consisted of a week-long culinary vacation to the Toscana Saporita Cooking School in the Tuscany region of Italy. (We’re hoping to make it back sometime soon for an anniversary vacation!) For us – preparing a great meal is one way that we show our love and caring to family and friends. We get great satisfaction when someone enjoys the food that we serve, and we hope as you read our blog, that you’ll also enjoy some of the inspiration and stories behind our recipes. We also hope you’ll be inspired to make some of the recipes yourself. My husband and I sometimes get a little competitive in the kitchen – in fact you might see some “Martha’s version” and “Jack’s version” of recipes that we each make just for a little variety. Here’s a little more about each of us: Jack is a creative, “cook big” kind of guy – opening up the refrigerator, grabbing whatever available ingredients he can find, and making a fabulous meal. After completing a high school culinary vocational program, he spent more than 20 years in food service management before earning his college degree and transitioning to a career in information technology management. During his food service career, some of Jack’s accomplishments included managing food preparation for an event attended by then-President George H. Bush for his re-election campaign, being part of a team that won the Newport, Rhode Island Chowder Festival, managing numerous large scale public dining events, directing a private dining club in Boston, Massachusetts which hosted politicians, dignitaries and celebrities, and being a runner-up in a National Pork recipe contest. At A Family Feast, Jack shares in the cooking and recipe development and takes most of the photographs you see on the blog. He is also our technical network expert. Jack’s specialties are soups, breads, meats and fish, and comfort foods. The kitchen is always a mess after Jack cooks. Martha is a self-taught cook, who loves to read cookbooks and try new recipes. She’s an online marketing professional by day, and puts her MBA and journalism degrees to good use on A Family Feast as our main writer and storyteller, WordPress guru, photography art director and food stylist, and blog marketer. She also shares in the cooking and recipe development and is working to overcome her fear of using our DSLR camera on 100% manual settings. Besides managing A Family Feast food blog, Martha likes to run (both to stay in shape and to burn off the calories consumed by tasting our recipes) and proudly has a marathon and several half-marathons under her belt, volunteers as treasurer for Emma’s Daisy Girl Scout troop, and is family chauffeur getting Emma to school, swim lessons, dance class and church choir on time. Martha’s specialties are baking, desserts, vegetables and pasta dishes. She is a clean-as-you-go type of cook so the kitchen is always very neat after Martha cooks. Would you like to work with us?
