About

AfterschoolAfrica.com started as an experimental blog, by Ikenna Odinaka C. in 2008. His initial purpose was to build an online platform that offers career advice for fresh graduates after graduation from higher institution.
That initial idea was not sustained as he took cues from what site visitors were looking for at the time; scholarships and opportunities. This led him to refocus on publishing information on scholarships, contests and award opportunities for African students and graduate students.
Through these years AfterschoolAfrica have operated on the core ideal:
“Empowering and inspiring young Africans with relevant information and knowledge to achieve their goals and aspirations”.

This core value and purpose is influenced by our passion to inspire young people to take responsibility and self develop by taking advantage of available opportunities.
We continue to expand our scope to effectively meet this ideal. As a result, AfterschoolAfrica have evolved into an “Online resource for Youth Development and Empowerment”
We publish content that promotes self education, learning, empowerment, entrepreneurship and career advancement for African Youth. As a result we cover such topics as:

At AfterschoolAfrica.com, our first responsibility is to our audience; our readers who are typically students, graduates, [aspiring] entrepreneurs and people who seek advancement.
Our second responsibility is to our [potential] partners; guest contributors, writers, speakers, authors, bloggers and sponsors. Our individual partners are persons of knowledge, experience and passion to share. Our sponsors are organisations that support our work through banner placement and other sponsorship programs.
Our third responsibility is to make profit. We believe that to achieve our core objective of impacting lives in our little way, we must generate revenue.
We believe that by pursuing people empowerment, we can build a team with a spirit and consequently generate profit to keep our purpose and value alive.
We are willing to research and try different ideas – including contextual advertising, banner advertising, sponsorship, conferences, seminars etc -, even make mistakes to uncover better ways to fairly generate revenue to stay alive.
When these things are done, we believe we shall make a fair profit. We are determined with the help of God to fulfill these obligations to the best of our ability.
