For Advertisers The Cornell Lab of Ornithology offers both online ads and print ads. Download ad rates at right, or contact the advertising manager, Susanna Lawson, for more information. Online advertising The Cornell Lab of Ornithology offers online ads at its All About Birds website and species guide. Ad contracts are for a minimum of three months and are paid quarterly. Advertisers can choose from a variety of standard packages, or we can prepare customized packages to suit your interests. Online ads are available on a variety of pages such as home, search by name/ shape/taxonomy, build ID skills, attract birds to your backyard, types of feeders/bird food, article archives, or live-streaming cams. Ads can also appear on one or more species pages in our online species guide. For example, a company that sells birdhouses might want to advertise on the species profiles of one or more common box-nesting species, such as Eastern Bluebird or Tree Swallow. Many bird species require good optics, and a high percent of birders photograph birds and other wildlife. If you are promoting bird watching, travel, or tours to specific regions or birding festivals, ads can be placed on bird species related to those destinations or events. For more information about our birding festivals, please visit our Festival Listing page. Back to Top Print advertising Living Bird and Living Bird News are the quarterly magazine and newsletter of the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. Living Bird is an attractive full-color magazine, lavishly packed with spectacular full-color photographs. The magazine has an ever-widening readership among libraries, universities, and many other organizations. Bird-watching demographic and economic data, advertising rates, publication dates, due dates, and ad specifications are provided in PDF form on the right side of this page under "Advertising Information." For a media kit, contact the advertising manager. Feature articles cover bird behavior, identification, research, conservation, travel, bird-finding, and equipment reviews. There are also regular columns: "Flying Field" (the joys of birding) by Mel White, "In the Field" (bird behavior) by Jack Connor, "Spotlight" (threatened bird species) by David Wilcove, "The Catbird Seat" (essays on the birding life) by Pete Dunne, "A Naturalist's Notebook" (field notes with bird sketches) by John Schmitt, "Birding Escapes" (U.S. birding hotspots), "Birding Product Reviews" (products for bird watchers), "Around the Lab" (Lab news and research), "ScienceScope" (scientific news about interesting bird research from around the world), and "Books for Birders" (book reviews). Living Bird is an excellent advertising resource for companies that want to reach the bird-watching market and some of the most enthusiastic and influential birders and ornithologists in the world. By advertising in the magazine, a company is associating itself with an organization held in high regard by the bird-watching community. Living Bird News excerpts articles from Living Bird magazine and provides additional membership-related news to a wider audience of bird watchers and bird enthusiasts. Its attractive, glossy format and competitively priced ads make it an excellent option for advertisers wishing to reach a broad spectrum of the bird watching community.
