Great advice on the reading life

I’m a fan of the Book Riot podcast and became an instant fan of this spinoff from the first episode. Every other week, librarian Rita Meade and a guest co-host give their feedback and advice on two questions submitted by listeners. For example, “How do I find time to read all the books on my TBR?” or “Should I read classic literature even if I’d rather read crime thrillers?” Book Rioters say there are no “shoulds” in reading, and the advice given on this podcast is always nonjudgmental and more like guidance than instruction. What I enjoy most about the show is that Rita and her co-hosts discuss the underlying issues behind each question, such as, “This person wants to know if she should read classic literature. How do you define classic literature? Should you read something just because it’s considered a classic, or only if you enjoy it?” I love this unique concept of advice on the reading life—keep the episodes coming! I also love that the app allows me to download episodes and listen to them on the go without burning through the limited data plan on my mobile device. Nicely done!
Core Data
Use Core Data to save your application’s permanent data for offline use, to cache temporary data, and to add undo functionality to your app on a single device. Through Core Data’s Data Model editor, you define your data’s types and relationships, and generate respective class definitions. Core Data can then manage object instances at runtime to provide the following features.
Core Location Framework
The Core Location framework lets you determine the current location or heading associated with a device. The framework uses the available hardware to determine the user’s position and heading. You use the classes and protocols in this framework to configure and schedule the delivery of location and heading events. You can also use it to define geographic regions and monitor when the user crosses the boundaries of those regions. In iOS, you can also define a region around a Bluetooth beacon.
EGOTableViewPullRefresh
A similar control to the pull down to refresh control created by atebits in Tweetie 2.
Facebook
The iOS SDK provides Facebook Platform support for iOS apps
iRate
Deprecated iRate is a library to help you promote your iPhone and Mac App Store apps by prompting users to rate the app after using it for a few days. This approach is one of the best ways to get positive app reviews by targeting only regular users (who presumably like the app or they wouldn't keep using it!).
MessageUI
The Message UI framework provides specialized view controllers for presenting standard composition interfaces for email and SMS (Short Messaging Service) text messages. Use these interfaces to add message delivery capabilities without requiring the user to leave your app.
SBJson for Objective-C
SBJson (aka json-framework) JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) is a light-weight data interchange format that's easy to read and write for humans and computers alike. This library implements strict JSON parsing and generation in Objective-C.
StoreKit
StoreKit enables users to embed a store in their app. It also process financial transactions associated with the purchase of content and services.
TestFlight
TestFlight is an online service for over-the-air installation and testing of mobile applications, currently owned by Apple Inc and only offered to developers within the iOS Developer Program.
UIKit
The UIKit framework (UIKit.framework) provides the crucial infrastructure needed to construct and manage iOS apps. This framework provides the window and view architecture needed to manage an app’s user interface, the event handling infrastructure needed to respond to user input, and the app model needed to drive the main run loop and interact with the system.
