About

Now entering its 15th year, Canada's Top 100 Employers is the nation's largest editorial project of its kind. Our competition aims to recognize the companies and organizations that lead their industries in creating progressive workplaces and forward-thinking HR policies. Winners are announced each year in The Globe and Mail, on Eluta.ca and in more than a dozen large newspapers and magazines reaching over 13 million Canadians.

Employers complete a single application to be considered for our national project and 19 popular regional and special-interest competitions. A distinguishing feature is that our editors write detailed Reasons for Selection for each competition, explaining why the winners were chosen. This provides transparency in the selection of winners and raises the bar for other employers aiming to emulate the best-practices our editors uncover.

The highlight of our project's editorial calendar is the annual Top Employer Summit, a large conference that brings together all the writers and organizers of the Canada's Top 100 Employers project. At the conference, our editorial team present the best stories and case studies from the current winners -- and provide valuable insights on next year's competition. Previous speakers include: Hillary Clinton; Robert F. Kennedy Jr.; Al Gore; and Muhammad Yunus. This year's event takes place November 16-17, 2015 at The Hilton Hotel in Toronto.

We also operate the popular job search engine, Eluta.ca, which is one of Canada's most-visited career sites. Eluta.ca offers a high quality search experience, providing job-seekers more direct-employer job postings than any other site in Canada. Eluta.ca is the exclusive online home of our editorial Reasons for Selection -- more than 5 million unique visitors in Canada visited Eluta.ca in the past year.

More reviews» Our annual Top 100 winners are announced in a special supplement published by The Globe and Mail each November, with detailed Reasons for Selection published simultaneously on our job search site, Eluta.ca. Each year, our editorial team writes over 400,000 words explaining why the winning employers were chosen, providing transparency in the selection of winners and informing job-seekers about the benefits they can expect at the best employers. This year, our editors reviewed the recruitment histories of more than 75,000 employers across Canada and invited 12,500 of these to apply. Our editors manage a series of well-known regional "top employer" competitions with nearly two dozen newspapers and magazines, which announce the winners in a series of newspaper supplements each year. We also manage seven special-interest competitions recognizing the nation's best employers for family-friendly workplaces, diversity, environmental values, fast-growing workplaces, young people and older Canadians. A blue-ribbon academic Advisory Board oversees the selection criteria for each year's competition. The distinguished panel members, drawn from universities across Canada, have each written or edited a major HR textbook in Canada. We manage Eluta.ca, one of Canada's largest job search sites. This specialized search engine lets job-seekers search the career sites of tens of thousands of employers directly, bypassing traditional job boards. Eluta.ca is the exclusive home of our editors' Reasons for Selection, which set out the reasons why each of our competition winners was chosen. Eluta attracts more than five million unique visitors each year, who perform over 8 million monthly searches (source: comScore MediaMetrix). We host a large editorial conference each year that brings together all the writers and editors who work on our project. The Top Employer Summit is Canada's largest annual conference for senior-level HR professionals.
