Forced into early “retirement” after a lengthy career in administrative and marketing administrative positions by losing my job I turned to blogging as a hobby. I worked at a large national banking company in 2008 at the beginning of the economic meltdown, at the time I had just returned to college to finish up my Bachelor’s degree which I had realized I would have to have to find another job this time. I easily completed my degree with a focus on Business and Consumer Behavior at DePaul University, enjoying it much more than I expected to. It also gave me an opportunity to do a study abroad trip to China and Tibet. Upon completing my degree I never had any luck finding a new full time position, and never was really sure I wanted to. I am also a military veteran with a total of 14 years of duty combining Air Force, Air National Guard, and Air Force Reserves. I have always loved to write, based out of my early love for reading taught to me by my mother. I tried writing my first romance novel around 12 and have made several incomplete attempts since. I spent many years studying my family’s genealogy to learn more about myself and made a very serious attempt at writing a fiction novel based on my mother’s upbringing as a Depression-era farm girl in central Nebraska. I haven’t given up completely on writing it and of course I hope that Dolly’s blog will lead to a book about our very special bond. In October 2012 I celebrated my 20th wedding anniversary with my husband Brad, who works for the Army Corps of Engineers. Luckily he has a good job which allows me to pursue my blogging career. We are looking forward to his retirement in a few years and beginning a whole new chapter of our lives.
