- Key DifferentiatorFederal News Radio is heard throughout the Greater Metropolitan Washington Area at 1500 AM and in Frederick at 820 AM. Federal News Radio 1500 AM and FederalNewsRadio.com comprise the key source of breaking news, information and analysis for the individuals responsible for carrying out and supporting the missions of federal agencies. Federal News Radio addresses federal agency managers, policy makers and contractors. Federal News Radio's coverage is non-partisan, non-political and is designed to help executives more clearly understand and make better decisions about issues affecting their agencies and their companies. We cover both the federal government and those who do business with the government concentrating on management, defense, technology, contracting, policy and pay & benefits. Federal News Radio features the talents of some of the best federal minds in the industry. "The Federal Drive with Tom Temin and Emily Kopp" airs weekday mornings from 6-10 a.m. "In-Depth with Francis Rose" airs weekday afternoons from 3-7 p.m. Our reporters, Jason Miller, Jared Serbu, and Senior Correspondent Mike Causey make Federal News Radio a one-stop, up-to-the-minute source of news and information. History From its inception during the height of the "dot com" bubble to today, Federal News Radio has continued to expand and grow with the objective of being the source for the latest news and information concerning feds - throughout the nation's capital and around the world. During the late 1990's, with the rapid growth of the Internet and email, Washington's all-news station, WTOP Radio, noticed that a tremendous amount of correspondence was coming from addresses with .gov and .mil extensions. Many of these emails were requesting more federally-focused content. At the same time, the number of companies advertising on WTOP to reach federal decision makers was increasing rapidly. On February 22, 2000, FederalNewsRadio.com, the world's first, Internet-only, all-news radio station was born. Our focus was, and still is, the federal community. Federal News Radio moved onto the radio airwaves on 1050 AM in 2004. In 2008, it moved again to a clear channel1 50,000 watt station on 1500 AM. This radio station is available over the Internet. If you're not behind a strong firewall (and you feds might very well be), you will soon hear what we mean when we say Federal News Radio. We're glad you're here and we hope you enjoy the site and the station. We encourage your feedback. Click here to send us an email.
