Editorial: A Highly Valued Environment Scholarly and peer-reviewed, JOSPT features the latest evidence-based research and clinical cases in musculoskeletal and sports-related health, injury, and rehabilitation, including physical therapy, orthopaedics, sports medicine, and biomechanics. Now in its 35th year, JOSPT strives to offer high-quality research, immediately applicable clinical material, and useful supplemental information in a variety of formats. In addition, articles published from January 2010 to date, as well as all musculoskeletal imaging features and clinical practice guidelines, are provided in full text for easy viewing on a wide range of devices—from desktop and laptop computers to smartphones and tablets. JOSPT is indexed by several well-known services, including Index Medicus (PubMed-MEDLINE) and the Cumulative Index to Nursing & Allied Health Literature (CINAHL). With a current impact factor of 2.947 and a 5-year impact factor of 3.349, JOSPT is the top-ranked physical therapy journal in ISI's Journal Citation Reports (2012). A study conducted by JOSPT between October 3 and October 10, 2013 shows that of the 794 JOSPT readers who responded to the annual reader survey: Who Are JOSPT's Readers? 44% manage or own their enterprises. 85% hold master's or doctoral degrees. 82% are working practitioners; 17% are academicians; 1% are students. 99% have worked in orthopaedics and/or sports for more than 4 years; 1% are new to these fields (1 to 3 years or are not yet practicing). 60% are responsible for staff development. 82% use a smartphone or personal digital assistant, and 60% have a tablet or e-reader. How Useful Is JOSPT to Readers in Their Jobs? Rated JOSPT 4.45—first among 12 publications assessed on a scale of 1 to 5, where 1 is "not useful at all" and 5 is "extremely useful." 54% spend 30 or more minutes with every issue of JOSPT. 60% keep issues of the Journal for 1 or more years. 64% share their print issues with others. How Effective Are JOSPT's Print and Website Formats and Designs? 95% rated the print Journal format "effective" or better, or 4.10, where 1 is "ineffective" and 5 is "extremely effective." 80% rated the online format "effective" or better, or 3.75, where 1 is "ineffective" and 5 is "extremely effective." 92% visit JOSPT.org—70% on a regular basis and 22% occasionally.
