My name is Samantha Ferraro, and I am very excited to share the immense passion I have for cooking and sharing it with the world. I am a Brooklyn native, Hawaii lover (having lived there for 10years), and current So Cal resident. Cooking has always big a huge activity and stress reliever for me, and it’s not far off to see me start chopping onions like a mad women in midst of text books during finals week! (Update: I graduated from college in May, 2013!) I live in a small beach town in Southern California, minutes away from the weekly farmers market and a block away from the ocean, with my wonderful husband, who is the wine extraordinaire of the family, and our adorable almost Human-like Lhasa-Apso, Hula. Home! Seal Beach, CA My background is pretty diverse, which is definitely illustrated through my cooking. I grew up as the Brooklyn Jewish girl next door, where I had both Sephardic and Ashkenazi foods in my life….that means everything from stuffed grape leaves and baba ganoush to pickled herring and the classic matzo ball soup….it’s all soo good, and I love it ALL! Fast forward a few years to Kona, Hawaii….my other home! There is nothing like the Aloha spirit and the people of Hawaii. I grew in love with organic foods watching farmers work their magic on the fields. I remember times when my husband and I would drive up the road and stop to pick up guavas and avocados from the side of the road, they were so good, or as locals say, “Ono”! There is nothing like tasting the passion someone put into growing that piece of fruit…that emotional taste is nothing like picking up an apple from the store! One of my favorite cuisines is Italian! I love it! I could probably live on a bottle of Chianti and ciabatta for the rest of my life and be content. This is good because my husband is Italian and welcomes the aromatic stench of garlic permeating through the house. So that’s me in a nutshell.
