Hello! Thank you so much for checking out Natural Health Foodie! Of all the places to wander about on the internet, I am so happy you have found my site. My intention here is to share the delicious goodies I find and create throughout my life as a Natural Chef and Holistic Nutritionist and Herbalist-in training I live, breathe and eat nutrient-dense food and truly believe in the power that the natural world has to heal us from the inside-out! Outside of this site, you can find articles of mine published in Common Ground Magazine and MindBodyGreen.com The Back-Story: The initial inspiration that kick-started my never-ending journey of learning about whole, natural foods occurred while I was living in Los Angeles. My life was full of unhealthy behaviors and was fueled with late night consumption of fast and processed foods mixed with alcohol and dirty drinking water. My body and spirit were suffering more than I knew. Through what seemed like divine intervention, I found myself working at Planet Raw owned by the opinionated, yet truly passionate, Juliano who inspired me to change my diet. Juliano and Anthony Bourdain were the reason I decided to go to culinary school. Although the two men have completely different views of food, they have one thing is common and that is PASSION. Their enthusiasm inspired me to pursue the path that I did. I became a Certified Natural Chef through Bauman College and I moved to Santa Cruz and continued with the Nutrition Educator program at Bauman, and in June of 2009 became a Certified Holistic Nutrition Educator. I am currently residing in Canada where I am attending Pacific Rim College for their Community Herbalist program. I am absolutely in love with the information I'm learning and the hands-on approach they take. I am learning so much and can't wait to share it all with you! In May I will be a Certified Community Herbalist and plan on offering many things such as consultations, healing products, recipes and more. When I'm not browsing farmer's markets, cooking up new recipes, teaching or guiding clients, eating delicious food or talking about herbs, I am usually outside soaking up the sun. When I'm not doing that, (or the sun is hidden as it often is during the winter here) I am typically expressing my creative nature by writing, dancing, singing, listening to music, updating Circle of Love, taking pictures in front of or behind the camera, gardening, hiking, and exploring the new city I live in. Other passions of mine include traveling, swimming in natural waters, yoga and raw chocolate (I am a self-proclaimed chocoholic for sure.) Dance On: As my understanding of full spectrum health has increased, I have found that I am extremely passionate about movement and dance. I have dabbled in several types of fitness, yet always come back to the ones that I enjoy the most and will do on a consistent basis. No doubt I have been dancing since the moment I was born and plan to do so for as long as I am alive. I love it with all of my heart!! With the hopes of sharing my love of dance and providing space for people to find their own medicine on the dance floor, I recently became a Certified Yoga Instructor in the form of what is called "Danyasa". Danyasa is a fluid combination of dance and Vinyasa flow yoga. Check this post here for more information on that and my experience in Costa Rica.
