HI, I’M CHRISSIE!

I’m a Canadian prairie girl living in Eastern Europe with my wonderful husband and our two beautiful children. I’m a former middle school teacher with a passion for Special Education, but right now I’m enjoying staying home full-time with my kids as we live out our latest adventure – working as missionaries in Romania!

It’s no surprise I grew up to enjoy cooking and baking after spending most of my childhood in the kitchen with my mom and both my grandmothers. Over the last twelve years I’ve spent countless hours in my own kitchen preparing food for my husband and children and our friends and family, and I have fallen in love with cooking and baking.

In our family we strive to eat as many whole foods as possible and to cook at home every day not only to save money but also to maintain a healthy diet. Baking is my catharsis, so when I’m stressed you’ll often find me in the kitchen kneading bread dough, mixing up a batch of muffins or throwing together a hearty soup…usually with my children playing happily at my feet!This blog is a place where I share my favourite recipes, kitchen tips and tricks I’ve learned along the way (often after a major kitchen blunder!), some of my tried and true ingredients and kitchen tools, and tips for maintaining a healthy diet while enjoying fresh foods that taste great! And a piece of cake every now and then…
