WGBH is PBS’s leading producer and a major supplier of programming for public radio nationwide. More than 70 million Americans watch WGBH’s productions every month, including Frontline, Nova, American Experience, and Antiques Roadshow—all produced out of our Boston studios. A pioneer in children’s media (from Zoom to Curious George), WGBH creates and delivers curriculum-based educational content for teachers, students, and families across the nation. In the Quack’s Apples app, kids can have as many tries as they need to perfect their route for the getting Quack’s apples to roll into the pond. Quack has an unlimited supply of apples, though there seem to be an unlimited supply of sticks too! By encouraging kids to keep testing and tweaking their designs until they get that apple in the pond, they are practicing the engineering design process integral to scientific thinking.
Players can't get rid of the sticks that block the apples from rolling into the pond, but can tap on them to turn them in different directions to create a path for the apples to roll into the water. Once they get it, the next setup will be a little harder.
The PEEP and the Big Wide World Trash Stash app from WGBH was produced by WGBH, the producers of PEEP and the Big Wide World, with additional development work by CloudKid. The animated series PEEP and the Big Wide World gives wings to the innovative idea of teaching science to preschoolers. Wry and distinctive visual humor, charming plotlines, and lovable characters combine with a comprehensive science curriculum to attract and engage kids three to five years old.
