Our home in the country was named “Zephyr Hill” for two reasons. First of all, it’s very windy here in Kansas and Zephyr is the name of the strong West wind. Secondly, the German family that built the farm in 1901 was called Zeferjahn. After many years, this little spot became known as “Zefer Hill” by the locals. I figured it would be a good name for the blog, too, since it revolves around our home life.
We’ve moved away from Zephyr Hill Farm, but only a few miles. I can still see Zeferjahn Hill outside my front door. Rural life is ideal for us. It’s quiet and serene, and the community is very supportive and friendly. We recognize nearly everyone we see. We are a homeschooling family with 8 children here on Earth and 1 little girl named Margaret who went to Heaven when she was 6 months old (2007) because of severe heart defects and a bout with pneunomia.
My hope for Zephyr Hill Blog is to create a helpful and friendly place where families can come for advice, product reviews and fun (check the menu above to see if there are any giveaways going on).
