About Cook’s Illustrated
Cook’s Illustrated, launched in 1993, is located just outside Boston where a team of more than three dozen test cooks, editors, and cookware specialists work in a 2,500-square-foot test kitchen. Our mission is to test recipes over and over again until we understand how and why they work and until we arrive at the “best” version of a particular recipe. The result, we hope, is the best version of a particular recipe, but we realize that only you can be the final judge of our success (or failure). As we like to say in the test kitchen, “We make the mistakes so you don’t have to.”

Along with developing recipes, our test kitchen team exhaustively tests kitchen equipment and does blind tastings of supermarket ingredients to tell home cooks which brands to buy…and which to avoid. More than one million Cook’s Illustrated readers rely on Cook’s Illustrated reviews to make smarter decisions about which cooking products and ingredient brands to buy.

Cook’s Illustrated recipes, testings, and tastings can be found in Cook’s Illustrated magazine and cookbooks, online at CooksIllustrated.com, or featured on our public television show, America’s Test Kitchen.

Waste of money

Former die hard fan, now cheesed off rube. Think your subscription allows access to the website? Nope. The iPad app with old recipes? Nope. Old magazines that are out of print? Nope. It is unbelievable that they don't understand that folks want their information sources to be seamlessly integrated. What's more, they don't have to handle their business this way. Most fans would happily pay a reasonable fee for full access. They used to be reputable. They are trending the wrong direction, which will likely make this kind of thing worse. Good bye frustration. Useless Sales Tool

I agree with other reviewers that this app is ONLY a sales tool to sell copies of the magazine. I only wanted a digital membership. Have enough cookbooks, mags etc. Need fast searching ability to find what I need. Cooks Illustrated's App ONLY sells copies of the magazine. Wake up CI. You are about to be a decade behind in the digital workspace. I have no problem paying for this ad free magazine. Just price it appropriately, and include an app that delivers your product. The only way to access this is old school, through the website.

Subscriber can't access content

Total ripoff

I subscribed to this online magazine for four years (40$/yr) but when I stopped my subscription I lost all those recipes! Had I bought the hard copy cookbooks or magazines I would still have them. Don't waste your money online with these folks!

Pointless

I had a Cook's Illustrated App that worked well for recipe search and retention. That was before I had my iPad reset and lost that application. (Customer service couldn't tell me whether the iPad app was discontinued.)The new CI app is nothing more than a sales tool for each magazine issue. CI is a good product, but I have felt for some time that I was being "nickel and dimed". Disappointed
