Description:

Record your rides and help Bicycle Network build a world-class bicycle network where you live.

About RiderLog
Bike advocacy in your pocket.

RiderLog is a free app from Bicycle Network where every bike ride counts towards better bicycle infrastructure.

Get healthy and help improve riding condition at the same time.

RiderLog replaces your bike computer allowing you to monitor speed, distance, altitude and how much time you spend on your bike. Use it to prepare for a bike ride, find out how far it is to work by bike or to ensure you are getting enough physical activity to remain healthy.

You can set goals for the number of rides; time spend riding; altitude climbed; or distance ridden per week or month. Or set them at the minimum recommended Physical Activity Guidelines. Green lights show when you have hit your goals.

The Dashboard collects your ride data by day, week and month sorting it by total, average and high points.

The real power of RiderLog is that it turns every ride you make into a vote for better riding conditions. The details of your trips are uploaded to Bicycle Network where we can analyse the data and report on when, where and why people are riding. Bicycle Network is a health promotion charity who aims to make bike riding easy for everyone. Find out more at www.bicyclenetwork.com.au

Ride History in the dashboard keeps all your rides. You can check data from each ride and see the route on a map. It is easy to share your ride details on social media, email or SMS.

The information sent to Bicycle Network is used to improve the planning of bike infrastructure and to convince authorities to invest more in the locations where people ride. See the full story at www.riderlog.com.au.

Privacy
You decide how much information about you and your riding gets uploaded. The app default is to upload data so it can be used to improve riding conditions. Unless you change the settings on your device (i.e. no upload of data under Settings), personal details that you have provided in you profile will be transmitted (such as age, home postcode and other) to Bicycle Network.

How we collect information, the type of information collected and the use of that information is explained in Bicycle Network's Privacy statement - https://www.bicyclenetwork.com.au/general/about-us/1017/

Easy to use
RiderLog is about participation and contribution, not competition.

RiderLog is easy to use.
When first opening you'll be asked to input some basic details and you can also chose a ride avatar or personality.

To record a ride: open the app, under new ride select your ride type, press start to begin recording, lock your screen and put your phone in your pocket or bag; at the end of the ride wake up your phone and save your ride. Don't worry if you forget as the pocket mode will save the ride after a period of inactivity (the default is 5 mins but you can change it under Settings).

You can buy a phone mount for your bike handlebars that will allow you to watch the display as you ride.

Incident report

A new feature of this release, the Incident Report feature allows you to capture things such as dangerous path conditions or the details around a bike crash or near miss, and submit these to Bicycle Network to follow up. These reports are an additional tool for us to help improve riding conditions. Please remember this is not an alternative to emergency services.

Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

Used to be good

Used to like this app but something is broken - happens on my iPhone 4 and 5. I start the app and have it 'open' but locked like I used to but it records 0.1 km for a 23 k ride. Done it multiple times now. Also no music integration.

Don't bother

This app is a complete dog. The previous version was quite good for simple things like speed, distance, time, average speed and ride maps. This "updated" app is useless. My average commute of around 18 km shows as 0 km, 10.2 km, 3.6 km or whatever the app feels like on the day. The ride map shows accurate start and end points with a straight line between. The Bicycle Network must be uploading some seriously dud data from this app. I've tried deleting and downloading again, several times. Don't waste your time.

Finally launches but not much else

Congrats on updating the app so that it actually launches but the benefits are minimal. Histories have been lost (again), rides recorded often indicate 0km or something wildly wrong (eg 8km for a 2km ride). Other features are missing. The app crashes when trying to look at the map, too. Time to switch.

Crash at the start

I was happily using this app for about a year until iOS 9 was released. Since then it dies right at the start! I was expecting to receive an update to fix the issue but its been couple of months now and still not resolved. Also I personally liked the previous UI better.

CFNetwork
Access network services and handle changes in network configurations. Build on abstractions of network protocols to simplify tasks such as working with BSD sockets, administering HTTP and FTP servers, and managing Bonjour services.
Core Foundation Framework
Core Foundation is a framework that provides fundamental software services useful to application services, application environments, and to applications themselves. Core Foundation also provides abstractions for common data types, facilitates internationalization with Unicode string storage, and offers a suite of utilities such as plug-in support, XML property lists, URL resource access, and preferences.
Core Graphics
The Core Graphics framework is based on the Quartz advanced drawing engine. It provides low-level, lightweight 2D rendering with unmatched output fidelity. You use this framework to handle path-based drawing, transformations, color management, offscreen rendering, patterns, gradients and shadings, image data management, image creation, and image masking, as well as PDF document creation, display, and parsing.
Core Location Framework
The Core Location framework lets you determine the current location or heading associated with a device. The framework uses the available hardware to determine the user’s position and heading. You use the classes and protocols in this framework to configure and schedule the delivery of location and heading events. You can also use it to define geographic regions and monitor when the user crosses the boundaries of those regions. In iOS, you can also define a region around a Bluetooth beacon.
Foundation Framework
The Foundation framework provides a base layer of functionality for apps and frameworks, including data storage and persistence, text processing, date and time calculations, sorting and filtering, and networking. The classes, protocols, and data types defined by Foundation are used throughout the macOS, iOS, watchOS, and tvOS SDKs.
Launch Services
macOS Launch Services is an API that enables a running app to open other apps or their document files, similar to the Finder or the Dock.Launch Services eliminates apps having to query the Finder to open an app, document, or URL for them. The macOS Finder itself uses Launch Services to perform such tasks. Because the Finder performs no additional processing beyond calling Launch Services, any client using Launch Services for these purposes behaves identically to the Finder.
MessageUI
The Message UI framework provides specialized view controllers for presenting standard composition interfaces for email and SMS (Short Messaging Service) text messages. Use these interfaces to add message delivery capabilities without requiring the user to leave your app.
Quartz Core Framework
Allow users to browse, edit, and save images, using slideshows and Core Image filters. The Quartz Composer API supports processing and rendering graphical data and allows developers to create custom patches for the Quartz Composer developer tool. ImageKit provides user interface support for browsing, editing, and saving images, showing slideshows, and browsing and previewing Core Image filters. PDFKit is a technology that allows applications to display and manipulate PDF documents.
Security Framework
Secure the data your app manages. Protect information and control access to your app.
UIKit
The UIKit framework (UIKit.framework) provides the crucial infrastructure needed to construct and manage iOS apps. This framework provides the window and view architecture needed to manage an app’s user interface, the event handling infrastructure needed to respond to user input, and the app model needed to drive the main run loop and interact with the system.
