Heidi Coudal founded Big Delicious Planet in 1994 as a backstage rock + roll caterer, providing meals and fulfilling those notorious detailed dressing requirements for thousands of rock bands. Today youÍre more likely to find us catering stylish weddings, designing one of a kind events in the middle of our urban farm, and feeding globally inspired cuisine to the employees of ChicagoÍs Facebook office on a daily basis. Just as the business began on a whim more than two decades ago, we enjoy taking an idea and seeing what happens, whether itÍs planting a vegetable garden, creating a new menu, or implementing a new sustainability program. What started as a simple plan for a small organic garden turned into an urban farm with 50 raised beds and an apiary. We now plan our menus around ChicagoÍs growing season and the crops weÍll be harvesting at the time of an event, which is a lot of fun. Our green certification is a proud accomplishment. In 2013 we became a 4 Star Certified Green Restaurant and were named ñGreenest Caterer in America,î a status awarded to foodservice businesses that adhere to the strictest environmental standards for whatÍs innovative catering and event planning. For 22 years weÍve been beating to our own drum. We create amazing dishes, produce beautiful weddings, and treat all our clients like rock stars. We hope weÍll have the opportunity to work with you!
