Use transit in and around all of Chicago: It's easy to manage and pay your fare on CTA, Metra and Pace buses and trains with the Ventra app. Find all the features you're used to on the Ventra website and more, including mobile ticketing for Metra trains!

With the Ventra app, you can:
• Check your balance and available passes in your Ventra Card's transit account.
• Instantly load value or passes to your Ventra Card's transit account.
• Switch autoload for transit value or passes on and off.
• Buy and use Metra mobile tickets to ride any Metra train.
• Use transit value you've loaded to buy a Metra ticket.
• Get real-time account notifications so you know when it's time to load more fare or buy more tickets.
• Get real-time arrival/departure information from CTA, Metra and Pace all in one app—by picking a stop, using favorites or looking at service near where you're standing.

Garbage

Who designed the UI on this junk? Obviously someone didn't pass software construction class... It clears all fields when adding a new credit card if you enter the wrong password. Like really? Why am I prompted to input a password if I'm already logged in and adding a new payment method?

I spent MONEY on this stupid card?

Let's see I had to register the card with my personal information. Then because I forgot my password - or at least that's what the app claims, I tried to reset the password. No, app just refuses. No explanation, just can't do it. Crap app. So, I was going to add money to it, but seems like a total waste of time AND money. Forget it. Wasted enough time and money already. Goodbye.

The purchase process is easy, bus and train tix work fine, could use a better transaction history though.

Watch App?

Perfect opportunity to use WatchKit and allow users to scan their card digitally via their Apple Watch. I would use the CTA much more often if this was the case.

Passkit Framework
Create, distribute, and update passes for the Wallet app. Request and process Apple Pay payments in your app. The PassKit framework lets you add and manage passes in the user’s Wallet app. The Wallet app allows users to organize their boarding passes, tickets, gift cards, and loyalty cards. Using the PassKit framework, you can add passes to Wallet and have these passes appear on the user’s lock screen based on the time and place when the pass is relevant.
