Present in more than fifty countries, Cofaco Aores is a specialist in the art of fish conservation. Our history dates back to 1880, when Francisco Rodrigues Ten—rio established his first factory for the manufacture of tuna, in Vila Real de Santo Ant—nio (Algarve - Portugal). In order to maintain the excellence of the canning industryÕs tradition, the industry relocated to the wonderful islands of the Azores, where the right conditions were found for fish to grow sustainably. Cofaco was born here, in 1961, the starting point of what is today the biggest group in the Portuguese canning industry, which now owns two factories in the Azorean islands of S‹o Miguel and Pico.
