The English Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS) is a vibrant arts organisation working locally, nationally and internationally. Founded in 1932 as the national development agency for the folk arts (formed from the merger of the Folk Song Society of 1899 and Cecil SharpÍs English Folk Dance Society of 1911), EFDSS promotes learning and participation, performance, artistsÍ development and advocacy.
EFDSS is custodian of the Vaughan Williams Memorial Library (VWML), EnglandÍs national folk music and dance archive, an essential resource for anybody interested in the folk arts.
EFDSS owns and manages Cecil Sharp House, a world-class dedicated folk arts centre in London, with a unique history stretching back to 1930.
