FlightSafety has listened to our customers and is proud to release the newest update to FlightBag.

FlightBag is a training and reference app for the iPad, enabling users the ability to more effectively and efficiently view, manage, and annotate their important training resources. Based upon client input, FlightBag has been designed with a new user interface, as well as enhanced, cloud-based document management and annotation capabilities, presenting a far superior training experience. With this update to FlightBag subscription syncing times have been reduced and a new set of annotations tools are provided for improved study and quicker learning.

FlightBag requires either an active FlightSafety subscription, or an existing/new training reservation.

FEATURES

FAVORITE DOCUMENTS & SUBSCRIPTIONS OVERVIEW
The new FlightBagTM app offers efficient and effective management, retrieval, and updating of these important resources. Users can access documents quickly on the main menu, and tag “favorites”, or documents they use most frequently, for direct access across subscriptions, and on a wide variety of devices.

ENHANCED ANNOTATIONS
A new document viewer and annotation tool makes note taking easier. Users can now access annotation tools without switching between editing and viewing modes. Tools are “front-and-center”, better organized, and provide better control over document and page features of the past.

CLOUD SYNCING & BACKGROUND UPDATES
Users can keep their documents and notes up-to-date during training. “Favorites”, notes, and annotations are synced seamlessly to the FlightSafety cloud, and may be accessed on all your devices. With background updates, documents are flagged when there are revision updates, and users may commence reading a document, while the remaining updates continue downloading in the background.

CROSS PLATFORM
Users may access their training materials from virtually any device. FlightBag™ is available for the Apple iPad, as well is accessible via a web-browser version, providing access to the app for desktop computers and non-iOS tablet devices. A familiar look and feel ensures users the same interface on these complimentary versions.

Bit of a Learning Curve

After being so familiar with the old system it was initially pretty cumbersome, however I'm beginning to find my way around and discover there are quite a few functions I thought were missing but I just needed to become familiar with the UI and they're there. Working with the iPad means sharp graphics, and I'm happy with the navigation at this point. In fact, with only a minimal amount of time invested I was able to use the App in class, moving from one file to another, using bookmarks and search functions, and note-taking too! I'm certain there will be many improvements in the future - hey, it's a pretty dramatic change from the old, but the current state of this app is - in my humble opinion - pretty user friendly once you spend some time with it. An ability to use folders in favorites would be nice, as well as being able to import outside files to the app.

DO NOT DOWNLOAD!!

I was excited to hear and see FlightSafety updating and expanding their iPad application. I really liked the original app; I never had an issue and it "just worked!" Once I downloaded the new app, it deleted the original app without even asking to delete it! I didn't realize that it would delete the original FSI app! Extremely disappointed that I lost all my old notes and highlights, I spent the next few hours going through everything and quickly realized the new app is very "glitchy" and not user friendly. Documents not downloading properly and/or documents like the QRH missing completely!! DO NOT DOWNLOAD!! Unfortunately, this new "FlightBag" app is not ready for use.

Great Improvement from the original version

I really like the new look. The app is easy to use, easy to find documents. I love the annotation tools. Glad to see FlightSafety is finally working on this app again and looking forward to new versions!

Disappointing

FSI apparently did not do a thorough job of beta testing this application. There were multiple documents missing from the app that were in the previous program and some of the documents that were in the app did not function as previously. FSI has tried to be helpful in fixing the issues but for the premium they charge for their training this should've been right the first time.

Old app was superior

Biggest disappointment was rendering QRH into a cumbersome pdf file. Not sure why FSI removed all hyperlink capability and went back in time. Please let your customers use the old app that had functionality while you work out the bugs. Thank you
