Description:
Lightbox 2go for iPhone is a simple application designed to turn your iPhone or iPad into an X-ray view box. That's it, very simple, yet very useful. Lightbox 2go helps you view and digitize your x-rays. Put your x-ray film on top of the device screen and watch it light up.
This app was designed by a dentist with two objectives in mind:
1. View x-rays anywhere, or show them to your patients.
2. Easily digitize your films so they can be emailed or enhanced.
If you've ever tried taking a picture of an old school analog x-ray you'll know how difficult it is to find an adequate backlight, focus your iPhone camera, hold everything steady and take a decent picture.
This is a difficult task and leads to blurry out of focus pictures.
Taking a picture of an x-ray on a conventional view box is extremely difficult due to the horizontal bands caused by the flicker of the neon bulbs. Fluorescent bulbs produce pulsating light at a frequency of 60 Hz in North America and 50Hz in Europe. All cameras with shutter speeds faster than these values will produce dark bands over your image. Your iPhone camera will also struggle with this.
With Lightbox 2go you can easily eliminate this artifact.
Place your film on your iPad/iPhone running Lightbox 2go and use your iPhone/iPad (or other) camera to take a picture.
The resulting quality is great and the pictures are ready to email, edit, print
etc.
That's it, you've discovered yet another useful function for your
beloved iPhone.
For examples of artifacts observed on traditional view boxes and close ups of films digitized with Lightbox 2go, please see http://www.forestcity.ca/lightbox2go
