Reserved a vehicle for the owner to text me at 5 am saying cancel the trip knowing I can’t get a full refund back and refuses to pick up the phone

Not a fan of apps that only require Facebook to verify. Would rather use my drivers license.

Horrible app, charge unclear fees long after you’re trip - in my case told me the car was dirty, in an area of the car we didn’t use, over two weeks after my trip. Horrible customer service. Trash app not worth your money when they charge you crazy fees.

Not sure about all the negative reviews . I’m in the tri state area And so far this year 2021 I’ve had an ok experience with them . Warning , Booking fees are kinda high when rebooking . They can be a little more organized with ahead of timing warnings and inconveniences but usually works very quickly and will warn you of any inconvenience if you are not booking last minute. Customer service may take a few minutes to answer but they always call you right back . They always give you a chance to prove any charges that you don’t think you are responsible for so of course take pictures of EVERYTHING. As a 5 year old driver I’ve enjoyed the easy acesss locations , times and vehicles . The sign up process is definitely the easier best part. No hassles.

While the concept of Getaround is fantastic and incredibly useful, their customer service is lacking and can make rentals frustrating and unnecessarily costly. I recently noticed an unauthorized charge on my credit card following a getaround rental. I reached out to Getaround right away, provided documentation about my rental, the unauthorized charge, and other information. I requested that Getaround address the issue, but I just got a form email saying sorry for the inconvenience. I reached out to Getaround customer service multiple additional times and requested any supporting information they may have about why the unauthorized charge was made on my card. I also asked that they address the documentation I provided to them. I received a form response that it was their internal policy to not provide information. The refusal to provide supporting information about unauthorized charges on my credit card was alarming and frustrating. I sent detailed information and documentation to Getaround and received form responses that disregarded my messages in response. After reading the BBB (Better Business Bureau) profile, I see they have a 1.3 customer reviews and see that the lack of responsiveness and refusal to provide supporting information regarding charges is a recurring pattern. Be very cautious when renting from this company because if you need to rely on Customer Support, you will probably find yourself completely out of luck. When it works, the process is very convenient but it isn’t worth the toss up of knowing you may be faced with unauthorized responses and a refusal to address the issue from Customer Support.

I rented a car for the day. A lot of things were explicitly written out on the cars profile including no smoking, make sure you leave it with a full tank or you’ll be charged 8.99 a gallon, etc. However, for parking it just says street parking, don’t block driveways. Common sense stuff. After finishing my ride I get an email from Getaround saying they are gonna charge me 50 dollars because I didn’t park within .25 miles of the pickup location. Yet when I parked the car and completed the ride on the app... no mention of me being out of bounds or a warning. When I told customer service I made a mistake they just sent me their policy (no biggie, I wasn’t asking not to be charged or for a refund). Then more than a week later someone from getaround sent me another email saying that next time this happens there will be more adverse account actions LOL. Like are you joking? I don’t need to be reprimanded any more. I will never use this service again and recommend other services like zipcar or turbo.
