Description:

The Human Rights Campaign Foundation's Buying for Workplace Equality App is your
guide to brands and products from businesses that support LGBTQ
workplace equality — businesses that don’t discriminate based on
sexual orientation and gender identity, that provide benefits for LGBTQ
employees and their families and that respectfully market to or
recruit employees from the LGBTQ community.

Based on the HRC Foundation's Corporate Equality Index rating (www.hrc.org/cei),
businesses -- and their products -- are divided into red (brands that
receive our lowest workplace quality scores), yellow (brands that have
made some progress and receive moderate workplace equality scores) and
green (brands that receive our highest workplace equality scores)
categories to help consumers support businesses that have inclusive
LGBTQ workplace policies.

Features:
- Find thousands of LGBTQ-friendly businesses and their products;
search by shopping category or browse alphabetically.
- Browse distinct shopping categories like Food, Apparel, Household
Products and Banking & Finance.
- View detailed information about each business’ rating of
LGBTQ-inclusive workplace policies from the HRC Corporate Equality
Index.
- E-mail, Tweet or post Facebook status messages about your
favorite and least favorite brands to your friends and family.

Parent company matching is buggy

In a quick scan of businesses "near me", I found at least 3 with blatant mis-matched parent companies. Brown Jug was matched to low ranking Dean Foods as a match for "Brown's Dairy". This has the potential to be very hurtful to local businesses. I have emailed them about a few of these, so I'll revise my rating if they fix this.

Vote with your dollar

Thank you HRC for creating this great app. I have to say, some companies on the list surprised me and I'll change my shopping habits because this list. The app could be easier to use; it's not the best design. But it gets the job done.

Way out of date

We're nearly halfway through 2016 and the 2015 app is still up. And well after the CEI report itself was published.

Doesn't work

It gives a bogus error, "no network connection." Well, if I don't have a network connection, why can I pull up your un phone friendly web page?

Was good, now it's broke

I prefer to spend my money with companies that don't discriminate, and the app helped with that in the past. Not sure when it stopped working, but it's dead now. Tried removing and reinstalling with no luck.
Core Data
Use Core Data to save your application’s permanent data for offline use, to cache temporary data, and to add undo functionality to your app on a single device. Through Core Data’s Data Model editor, you define your data’s types and relationships, and generate respective class definitions. Core Data can then manage object instances at runtime to provide the following features.
System Configuration F...
This collection of documents describes the programming interfaces of the System Configuration framework. The System Configuration framework provides functions that determine the reachability of target hosts in both a synchronous and an asynchronous manner. It also provides error detection facilities.
Core Graphics
The Core Graphics framework is based on the Quartz advanced drawing engine. It provides low-level, lightweight 2D rendering with unmatched output fidelity. You use this framework to handle path-based drawing, transformations, color management, offscreen rendering, patterns, gradients and shadings, image data management, image creation, and image masking, as well as PDF document creation, display, and parsing.
Launch Services
macOS Launch Services is an API that enables a running app to open other apps or their document files, similar to the Finder or the Dock.Launch Services eliminates apps having to query the Finder to open an app, document, or URL for them. The macOS Finder itself uses Launch Services to perform such tasks. Because the Finder performs no additional processing beyond calling Launch Services, any client using Launch Services for these purposes behaves identically to the Finder.
MobileCoreServices
Use uniform type identifier (UTI) information to create and manipulate data that can be exchanged between your app and other apps and services using MobileCoreServices.
Assets Library Framework
In iOS and OS X, the Photos framework (formerly known as Assets Library framework) provides classes that support building photo editing extensions for the Photos app. In iOS, the Photos framework also provides direct access to the photo and video assets managed by the Photos app, including the iCloud Photo Library. Use this framework to retrieve assets for display and playback, edit their image or video content, or work with collections of assets such as albums, moments, and iCloud Shared Albums.
Core Foundation Framework
Core Foundation is a framework that provides fundamental software services useful to application services, application environments, and to applications themselves. Core Foundation also provides abstractions for common data types, facilitates internationalization with Unicode string storage, and offers a suite of utilities such as plug-in support, XML property lists, URL resource access, and preferences.
Core Location Framework
The Core Location framework lets you determine the current location or heading associated with a device. The framework uses the available hardware to determine the user’s position and heading. You use the classes and protocols in this framework to configure and schedule the delivery of location and heading events. You can also use it to define geographic regions and monitor when the user crosses the boundaries of those regions. In iOS, you can also define a region around a Bluetooth beacon.
Foundation Framework
The Foundation framework provides a base layer of functionality for apps and frameworks, including data storage and persistence, text processing, date and time calculations, sorting and filtering, and networking. The classes, protocols, and data types defined by Foundation are used throughout the macOS, iOS, watchOS, and tvOS SDKs.
UIKit
The UIKit framework (UIKit.framework) provides the crucial infrastructure needed to construct and manage iOS apps. This framework provides the window and view architecture needed to manage an app’s user interface, the event handling infrastructure needed to respond to user input, and the app model needed to drive the main run loop and interact with the system.
