Google Play services powers a broad set of SDKs on Android to help you build your app, enhance privacy and security, engage users, and grow your business. These SDKs are unique in that they only require a thin client library to be included in your app, as shown in figure 1. At runtime, the client library communicates with the bulk of the SDK's implementation and footprint in Google Play services.

Smack is an Open Source XMPP client library for instant messaging and presence. A pure Java library, it can be embedded into your applications to create anything from a full XMPP client to simple XMPP integrations such as sending notification messages and presence-enabling devices.

Smack Exetension API is a Open Source XMPP (Jabber) client library for instant messaging and presence. Unlike the pure Smack API, the Smack Extension API allows for support of JEP's defined by the JSF and also provides various extensions to the Smack suite.
