Great app for learning new words!

I have learned so many new words and their meanings using your app. Thank you for creating it. However, I just came across “embroiled” which is a verb, or action word, as indicated by the ‘...e d’ ending. On the app however the “correct” definition is a prepositional phrase, “in an argument”. I found this quite confusing. I would suggest a change in definition for embroiled to “involved in an argument”. Just my suggestion for consistency in tense sake. Thank you.

Great app!

I originally chose the Vocabulary builder app and the Vocabulary app for SAT and GRE for my homeschooled girls, but the app is great for our entire family. The words are challenging, increasing adequately in difficulty. Upon comparing them to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, all of the words had correct definitions and usage. One of the great things about this app is that at times they will use the uncommon definition of the word or the uncommon usage of the word. (Which is why I had to use the dictionary.) This app is supposed to be for SAT and GRE prep exams, but I find it is great as a supplement for any homeschool curriculum or for any child that wants to expand their vocabulary (which can be done at any age and grade, in my opinion. The app is easy to use with very little frills. After picking your answer choice, the correct answer will come on the screen along with a volume icon to hear its pronunciation, along with a well structured sentence using the word with their choice of definition. As a foreigner, I find the pronunciation very handy. But, the thing that I love and am grateful to the app developers for is that it is free. It may have some ads on the bottom, but we hardly even notice them. When one comes upon these seldom-found treasures, the only thing to say is “thank you”. ...and thank you.

Addictive!!!

This word builder is addicting. I start to do just a few words and I end up working on it for a much longer period of time when I should be doing other things.

Lighten up! Check your work!

I always welcome the opportunity to learn. My vocabulary is extensive but by no means all inclusive: that’s impossible. Free apps are awesome! I downloaded this app months ago and never opened it. Yet I did so tonight. Scarcely a couple of minutes had gone by when I caught an error. I tried to go back to double check and was unable to do so. Had someone made an error that’s a great way to learn. Nope! Also, there was little else but a perfunctory explanation which I doubt would stick in anyone’s memory. So I was going to try another stack and they were almost all locked! So much for being given the opportunity to evaluate your little app. Suggestions: you might want to work on the UI– it’s rather lacking. Of course, no need for fire crackers. Also, being an educator myself, there are a myriad of ways to learn the material. You could do little games, crossword puzzles. There are so very many ways. Just look around, in the App Store, for example. You could present the material how you’d enjoy learning were you to have one of those oppressive standardized tests looming over your head. They can be pretty intimidating so why not lighten up? Also, consider adding some audio. Many people are not visual learners. It’s an additional sense that can be brought in. And I can attest to how well it can work. You could make the app open-ended. Here’s the tape recorder, now go study the following words, for example. While the learner is devising the questions and answers, they are learning doubly. It’s rather like if you REALLY want to learn something well– you teach it. And it works! Dryly mimicking the exams are not necessarily the one and only, albeit, the best way to learn the material. Learning new words can be fun if you merely hire someone with a some creativity! (That someone may be you, the developer!
