These smaller stories tie together into 18 years of life lived from your first year of elementary school to high school graduation. The choices you make affect events that occur, and even affect future choices you can make. Once you graduate high school, you can see the person you chose to be. We also allow you to see into the minds of the developers. We give you a little slice of our philosophy based on the way you played.
Our goal with /self/ was to design an experience that replaces the usual reward-driven gameplay with mechanics that look pointedly at the act of choice. How does personality affect how we choose? How do you conduct yourself in certain scenarios? Will people be interested in simply being a person, or are rewards necessary to generate interest? /self/is a study of human personality, human behavior, and the human capacity to choose.
