Every update is just screwing the app more

Every update brings in more bugs. Try bringing temperatures down or up manually, it responds at the time, check after a min and it was undone. And scheduling is even funnier. No matter what I schedule for, it’s over engineered Automatic stuff just plays it’s own tricks. Dear Nest/google, if you genuinely act on feedback and improve your product, can you please just put a simple schedule option - switch it on/off at a specific time.

Apple watch app needs a fix

All in all, the app is great. I have a nest thermostat and the app works brilliantly for controlling our heating. The version on the apple watch however has a major flaw. It states that you can use the digital crown on the apple watch to adjust the temperature. This does not work. When you adjust the temperature with the digital crown nothing happens. It works with tapping the arrows but with the apple watch screen being so small it is a bit of a pain to do it that way but it is the only way to use the app. Please fix this and the app will be so so much better.

Buggy implementation

Hardware is great and when it does work, it works really well. But I have a LOT of trouble trying to stream my outdoor camera. I too often get a spinning wheel which can take ages to load video sometimes. Sometimes I can’t even open the app either (spinning Home logo). It requires a reboot of my phone for it to work. I’ve tested this on many occasions and can often replicate it. I’m really disappointed with the software, which I appreciate can be fixed. Feels like Nest are concentrating on releasing new products though and forgetting fixing bugs.

Why oh why....

Following recent updates neither Home/Away Assist or geofencing have worked properly. The geofencing would just keep GPS on constantly (therefore running down my battery), but I managed to fix this by deleting and re-downloading the app, but the Home/Away Assist still doesn’t work. App is convinced that I’m home so doesn’t turn on the cameras that it’s supposed to. So now I need to remember to turn them on each day so that everything works as it should. 😡

Spinning blue circle

More often that not I get the lovely spinning blue circle when trying to view the camera. Seems to have become worse with ios11 or the latest app update. Also, the smoke detectors usually say come back tomorrow to see what they’ve been up to. At this rate I’ll be cancelling my subscription. Nest make some great products but they’re useless if you can’t access them.

Increasing energy bills

My Nest 3rd gen keeps turning itself on when no one is home. Even if I use the app and switch it to away, it still comes on. I've turned of the motion sensor but is still thinks 'someone's come home'. Please fix this. Won’t buy another nest product.
