Description:
Australian: Art Gallery of New South Wales lets you explore a selection of artists and artworks from our Australian collection. View high-quality images in extraordinary detail, discover stories of the artists and the art, get simple explanations of art terms, and go behind the scenes with interviews and videos.
It includes many of Australia's most iconic artists including Arthur Streeton, Rupert Bunny, Tom Roberts, Grace Cossington Smith, Arthur Boyd, Margaret Olley, Jeffrey Smart, Brett Whiteley and Mike Parr.
As well as browsing by artist, artwork and date, this new release of the app enables you to browse through works in a particular focus area. The first focus area to be added is Sydney Moderns - artists such as Olive Cotton, Max Dupain, Thea Proctor and Roland Wakelin who were using colour, light and abstractions to celebrate the modern Sydney art and life between the two world wars.
The Australian app is designed to complement the Contemporary app, which focuses on the Gallery's Australian and international collection from the 1980s onwards, including the John Kaldor Family Collection.
Produced by the Art Gallery of NSW in association with The Nest.
