Radiological Society Of North America (rsna)
The Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) is an international society of radiologists, medical physicists and other medical professionals with more than 54,000 members across the globe. RSNA hosts the largest medical meeting in the world, drawing 58,000 attendees annually to McCormick Place in Chicago, and publishes two top peer-reviewed journals: Radiology, the highest-impact scientific journal in the field, and RadioGraphics, the only journal dedicated to continuing education in radiology. Through its educational resources, RSNA provides hundreds of thousands of continuing education credits toward physicians'_ maintenance of certification more than 1,000,000 CME certificates have been awarded since 2000. The Society also develops and offers informatics-based software solutions in support of a universal electronic health record, sponsors research to advance quantitative imaging biomarkers, and conducts outreach to enhance education in developing nations. Through its Research & Education (R&E) Foundation, RSNA provides millions of dollars in funding to young investigators, helping to build the future of the profession.

Description:

The RadioGraphics mobile application allows immediate access to full-text Ahead of Print and current articles published in the RadioGraphics journal for RSNA members and subscribers with personal and institutional subscriptions. Non-subscribers can access all abstracts free of charge.

The RadioGraphics application includes the ability to view current and past full-text articles with high resolution images, bookmark articles for future viewing, search by author, title and article content, take SA-CME tests, and share content through social media tools.

RadioGraphics, a bimonthly journal devoted to continuing medical education in radiology, is owned and published by the Radiological Society of North America. The primary mission of RadioGraphics is to publish the best in peer-reviewed educational material, emphasizing that presented at the Annual Meeting of the RSNA, for radiologists, trainees, physicists and radiologic technologists.

We hope you enjoy your experience using the RadioGraphics application. To provide feedback or for support contact mobilejnls@rsna.org.

Poor design

The app is stuck in the old paradigm of issue-based reading and fails to take advantage of basic strengths of computers. It assumes readers have only 1 way of reading RG and forces them into that 1 way. Let's say I want to check out what MSK articles they have. I have to select an issue then click on MSK, then get out of the issue, select another issue, and repeat. This is exacerbated by the fact that the app only loads a limited number of issues, so getting older issues requires waiting for that issue to load. Honestly, it's faster to grab a paper issue from the shelf and thumb through to find your articles. The CME tests are a pain too. You can't take them inside the app. The app launches the browser, then you click through a bunch of times to get to the test. It does do a good job of delivering ads, so 1 star for that.

Authentication issues

Please fix the issue where I must log in (authenticate) over and over almost every 24 hours. Having to constantly enter my login information and password discourages me from using the app. If a user has a lock code on their device, the radiographics app shouldn't auto log him or her out. ALSO, it would be very helpful if the app synced with the favorites section on the RSNA website.

Disappointing

App crashes frequently. Only the four most recent articles show up in the menu, even after loading older articles. The most recently viewed article does not persist between toggled apps; you need to find the article again every time. There is no option to view recently viewed articles. You cannot take tests within the app. On the plus side, the articles are displayed in a reasonably good format.

Terrible interface!

CME test on iPhone is a joke.
Core Motion Framework
The Core Motion framework lets your application receive motion data from device hardware and process that data. The framework supports accessing both raw and processed accelerometer data using block-based interfaces. For devices with a built-in gyroscope, you can retrieve the raw gyro data as well as processed data reflecting the attitude and rotation rates of the device. You can use both the accelerometer and gyro-based data for games or other apps that use motion as input or as a way to enhance the overall user experience.
Core Video Framework
Core Video provides a pipeline model for digital video. Partitioning the processing into discrete steps makes it simpler for developers to access and manipulate individual frames without having to worry about translating between data types (QuickTime, OpenGL, and so on) or display synchronization issues. Applications that do not need to manipulate individual video frames should never need to use Core Video directly.
GLKit
The GLKit framework provides functions and classes that reduce the effort required to create new shader-based apps or to port existing apps that rely on fixed-function vertex or fragment processing provided by earlier versions of OpenGL ES or OpenGL.
Open Graphics Library ...
The Open Graphics Library (OpenGL) is used for visualizing 2D and 3D data. It is a multipurpose open-standard graphics library that supports applications for 2D and 3D digital content creation, mechanical and architectural design, virtual prototyping, flight simulation, video games, and more. You use OpenGL to configure a 3D graphics pipeline and submit data to it. Vertices are transformed and lit, assembled into primitives, and rasterized to create a 2D image. OpenGL is designed to translate function calls into graphics commands that can be sent to underlying graphics hardware. Because this underlying hardware is dedicated to processing graphics commands, OpenGL drawing is typically very fast.
UserNotifications Fram...
The UserNotifications framework (UserNotifications.framework) supports the delivery and handling of local and remote notifications. You use the classes of this framework to schedule the delivery of local notifications based on specific conditions, such as time or location. Apps and extensions also use this framework to receive and potentially modify local and remote notifications when they are delivered to the user’s device.
Accounts Framework
The Accounts framework provides access to user accounts stored in the Accounts database. An account stores the login credentials of a particular service, such as Twitter, that can be used as authentication for the service. By implementing the Accounts framework into your app, you do not need to be responsible for storing account logins yourself. Instead, the user can grant access for your app to use their account login credentials, bypassing the need to type their username and password. If no account for a particular service exists in the user’s Accounts database, you can let them create and save an account from within your app.
Address Book
The Address Book framework provides access to a centralized contacts database, called the Address Book database, that stores a user’s contacts. Applications such as Mail and Messages use this database to present information about known and unknown persons.
AdSupport
The Ad Support framework provides apps with access to an identifier that can be used only for serving advertisements, as well as a flag which indicates whether a user has limited ad tracking. Accessing the advertising identifier requires apps to read and honor the opt-out flag.
AudioToolbox
The Audio Toolbox framework provides interfaces for recording, playback, and stream parsing. In iOS, the framework provides additional interfaces for managing audio sessions.
AVFoundation
The AV Foundation framework provides an Objective-C interface for managing and playing audio-visual media in iOS and OS X applications.
AVKit
Create view-level services for media playback, complete with user controls, chapter navigation, and support for subtitles and closed captioning.
