Royal Canin was founded in 1967 by Dr. Jean Cathary, a veterinary surgeon, in the South of France. The brand made its way to North America in 1988. For nearly 50 years, Royal Canin has worked closely with veterinarians, nutritionists and breeders to develop products that truly respect the specific nutritional needs of cats and dogs. In 2002, Royal Canin joined the Mars family of businesses. Royal Canin Canada (RCC) is located in Guelph (Ontario), where it opened its manufacturing facility. Today, RCC employs nearly 300 cat and dog-loving associates across Canada.
