In 2003, Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd. purchased the assets of ATMI's GaAs epitaxial wafer business (formerly Epitronics, which was founded in 1984). Sumika produces GaAs epiwafers and markets other Sumitomo Chemical IT-related products including semiconductor process materials and super engineering polymers.
