Description:

Samuel L. Clemens, known to generations of readers as Mark Twain, remains America's most famous and beloved writer. This app offers a window onto his life including his memories of childhood; reflections on home life; pronouncements on cats, love, business, human cunning and weakness; and much more. Filled with rarely seen images, this app delivers compelling insights into the life—both the comedy and the tragedy—of Mark Twain. Included are audio excerpts from Volumes 1 and 2 of the Autobiography of Mark Twain, a wide-ranging, candid life story that Twain decreed could not be published until one hundred years after his death.

This is Mark Twain:

--Covers the entire life and career of Mark Twain using a lively interactive timeline

--Includes video interviews with the foremost Mark Twain scholars in the world

--Includes dozens of rare, unpublished images

--Lets you explore Mark Twain's life in his own words through audio excerpts from the Autobiography of Mark Twain, Volumes 1 and 2

--Comes to you free as a supplement to the Autobiography of Mark Twain, Volumes 1 and Volume 2

--Android version available at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.thisismarktwain

very disappointing

1. The app refuses to operate in portrait mode, so all the portrait-mode photos are shown very small, wasting a lot of screen area, and there is nothing you can do about it. 2. Many of the photos are beautiful, but most have not been color-corrected, by which I really mean brightness-and-contrast-corrected. 3. In the UI where you are looking for photos to look at, most photos are distorted, squeezed vertically or horizontally. This is unforgivable. 4. There should be a checkbox that lets me choose whether I want to see a photo of the photo, with the pink or orange or sepia tint of the artifact, or the photo of the subject, in pure grayscale. Such a great subject, delivering priceless history, badly. Sam would be appalled, once he got used to the iPad. I will enthusiastically rewrite this review when these problems are fixed.
