In the aftermath of the Columbine shooting, Principal Frank DeAngelis promised he would serve his students – from Kindergartners to seniors – until the very last class graduated. Videographer Chris Hansen ’09 followed DeAngelis during his emotional final year at the school.

We all come from somewhere. Archbishop John Ireland understood this simple reality when he founded St. Thomas. As the son of Irish immigrants, he knew firsthand the struggles of many first-generation families. The doors of St. Thomas remain open wide, still welcoming young women and men who are eager to forge their own identities as first-generation Americans. Inspired by their parents who escaped war-torn countries, Semhar Araia ’99, Thanh Pham and Sousada Chidthachack ’06 have flourished and enriched St. Thomas and our community.

Blind since infancy, Mike Hanson ’87, ’05 J.D. was used to overcoming challenges. Then he decided to hike the entire Appalachian Trail.
