Description:

Find the best books and media for teens, as selected by library staff and educators across the United States! The Teen Book Finder, generously funded by a grant from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation, offers easy access to the titles honored each year by the Young Adult Library Services Association, a division of the American Library Association. Search for books by title, author, genre, award, or list; create a reading list with the favorites button; share what you’re reading on Facebook and Twitter; and find a copy of the book in your local library, all from one screen! Not sure where to start? YALSA offers three hot picks on the homepage each day.

About the App

It would be great if you could put more hot picks in display and new books in display. It would be great if once that you locate the library it could give you a link to place a hold or the phone number to call the library directly and place a hold. I tried to call to the phone that you provide and even though there's a path to call to Reston Regional Library, the path is long and a teenager wouldn't invest this effort. I insist it would be such a great service just to link the library's location with the phone number. There's a lot of Library systems around the country but, why not? Thank you from an avid reader from Fairfax County.

Alphabetical order please

Why is a site associated with The American Library Association listing its authors by their FIRST names? Alphabetical order of people is by last name, first.

Crap!

This app is junk. Plain and simple. NONE of the books I want are on there! They're not too well known books but so what!?!?! This app should have them in its database! This app doesn't even recognize two amazing books, one a classic entertainment, Ragweed and the other a great series, the original Percy Jackson series and the dumb thing doesn't even have THAT!!!???!!!!

Good

Works well for when I'm looking for a new book to read. The app is simple, but I like that.

Disappointing

The most useful aspect of this app is the book lists, which seems to have been the intention. However because the book database is limited to the books on the list, it's not very functional for finding a new book to read. The "locate book" option only shows results for southern Indiana--a place I've never been--and there nowhere I can find to change that. Ultimately I don't know how to use this app in a way that a quick google search doesn't offer.
Core Foundation Framework
Core Foundation is a framework that provides fundamental software services useful to application services, application environments, and to applications themselves. Core Foundation also provides abstractions for common data types, facilitates internationalization with Unicode string storage, and offers a suite of utilities such as plug-in support, XML property lists, URL resource access, and preferences.
Core Graphics
The Core Graphics framework is based on the Quartz advanced drawing engine. It provides low-level, lightweight 2D rendering with unmatched output fidelity. You use this framework to handle path-based drawing, transformations, color management, offscreen rendering, patterns, gradients and shadings, image data management, image creation, and image masking, as well as PDF document creation, display, and parsing.
Core Image
Core Image is an image processing and analysis technology that provides high-performance processing for still and video images. Use the many built-in image filters to process images and build complex effects by chaining filters.
CoreMedia
The Core Media framework defines the media pipeline used by AVFoundation and other high-level media frameworks found on Apple platforms. Use Core Media's low-level data types and interfaces to efficiently process media samples and manage queues of media data.
Foundation Framework
The Foundation framework provides a base layer of functionality for apps and frameworks, including data storage and persistence, text processing, date and time calculations, sorting and filtering, and networking. The classes, protocols, and data types defined by Foundation are used throughout the macOS, iOS, watchOS, and tvOS SDKs.
Launch Services
macOS Launch Services is an API that enables a running app to open other apps or their document files, similar to the Finder or the Dock.Launch Services eliminates apps having to query the Finder to open an app, document, or URL for them. The macOS Finder itself uses Launch Services to perform such tasks. Because the Finder performs no additional processing beyond calling Launch Services, any client using Launch Services for these purposes behaves identically to the Finder.
Quartz Core Framework
Allow users to browse, edit, and save images, using slideshows and Core Image filters. The Quartz Composer API supports processing and rendering graphical data and allows developers to create custom patches for the Quartz Composer developer tool. ImageKit provides user interface support for browsing, editing, and saving images, showing slideshows, and browsing and previewing Core Image filters. PDFKit is a technology that allows applications to display and manipulate PDF documents.
Security Framework
Secure the data your app manages. Protect information and control access to your app.
Core Location Framework
The Core Location framework lets you determine the current location or heading associated with a device. The framework uses the available hardware to determine the user’s position and heading. You use the classes and protocols in this framework to configure and schedule the delivery of location and heading events. You can also use it to define geographic regions and monitor when the user crosses the boundaries of those regions. In iOS, you can also define a region around a Bluetooth beacon.
UIKit
The UIKit framework (UIKit.framework) provides the crucial infrastructure needed to construct and manage iOS apps. This framework provides the window and view architecture needed to manage an app’s user interface, the event handling infrastructure needed to respond to user input, and the app model needed to drive the main run loop and interact with the system.
