The Australian Kookaburra Kids Foundation addresses issues surrounding children who live in a family affected by mental illness. These children are considered young carers and take on the primary responsibilities of the household in addition to their own social, emotional and educational needs. Through no fault of their own these children are faced with a much greater responsibility of care in their everyday life more than other children of the same age. Kookaburra Kids delivers mental health educational programs that focus on the individual emotional and practical needs of the child. The diversified curriculum provides counselling, advice and education interspersed with recreational activities the children do not often have access or exposure to. Our FREE weekend camps and school holiday activities provide an unforgettable experience for these children providing them with respite, support and education in a happy, safe environment.
