The Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) is the peak body representing the interests of Australian physiotherapists and their patients. The APA is a national organisation with non-autonomous state and territory branches and specialty subgroups.
The organisation has more than 19 000 members and over 300 members in volunteer positions on committees or working parties. The APA is governed by a Board of Directors elected by representatives of all stakeholder groups within the Association.
The APA is committed to the concept of continuing professional education. The organisation offers members advanced training and the possibility of collegial support from physiotherapists working in a similar area through 14 national groups.
The APA is a member of the World Confederation for Physical Therapy (WCPT), and signifies a standard of professional and ethical behaviour over and above the requirements of registration.

The APA app provides direct access to tailored digital content and additional information to complement select articles in InMotion magazine, the flagship publication of the Association.
The APA app allows users to use their smartphone to scan marked pages in InMotion magazine to bring up video content related to an article, as well as a website link, telephone number and email address. It is an innovative way of linking members to digital content and providing them with a portal to gain additional information quickly and easily.
The APA app is an example of the Australian Physiotherapy Association embracing technology and its application to enhance member services and physiotherapy practice.
