Today, in addition to auditing audience claims, through its iCompli service, BPA verifies compliance to defined government, industry, and organizational standards as well as adherence to privacy, data protection and sustainability guidelines and best practices. Founded in 1931 by a group of advertisers, publishers and agencies, BPA Worldwide is an independent, not-for-profit, self-regulating organization governed by a tripartite Board of Directors.
The Board of Directors, which sets auditing rules and organizational policies and oversees operations, is comprised of 17 advertiser and advertising agency representatives and 15 publication representatives. BPA's bylaws require that its Chairman, elected each May, is an executive from an advertiser or advertising agency member company.
