Description:

The Dexcom G5® Mobile Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) System is the first device that lets you treat without pricking your finger.*

Use this app if you have the Dexcom G5 Mobile CGM System.

Medicare beneficiaries should not use this app. The beneficiary may NOT use their phone for display of Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) data and still be eligible for reimbursement by Medicare for Therapeutic CGM.

The Dexcom G5® Mobile Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) System provides real-time glucose readings for patients with type 1 or type 2 diabetes every five minutes. With Dexcom G5 Mobile, dynamic glucose data can be accessed and shared safely and conveniently anywhere, anytime to your smart device.

* CGM-based treatment requires fingersticks for calibration; may result in hypoglycemia if calibration not performed or symptoms/expectations do not match CGM readings.

The Dexcom G5 Mobile CGM System provides personalized trend alerts right on your smart device and lets you see when your glucose levels are going too low, or too high, so you can better manage your diabetes. The Alert Schedule feature lets you schedule and customize a second set of alerts. For example, you can set the schedule to match your work hours and have different alert settings during the rest of the day. Custom alert sounds are available, including a Vibrate-Only option on the phone for glucose alerts other than the Urgent Low Alarm.

The Always Sound setting allows you to receive certain Dexcom CGM Alerts even if your phone sound is off, set to vibrate, or in Do Not Disturb mode. This will allow you to silence calls or texts but still receive CGM Alerts, including Low and High Glucose alert, Urgent Low Alarm, and Rise and Fall Rate alerts. Always Sound is on by default. A Home screen icon shows you if your Alerts will sound or not. For safety, three alerts cannot be silenced: Urgent Low Alarm, Transmitter Failure, and Sensor Failure.

In addition to the exceptional performance provided by the Dexcom Sensor, you’ll receive other valuable features:

• Intuitive and user-friendly interface
• Dexcom SHARE® remote monitoring is built into the G5 app, allowing you to share your glucose data with up to five followers, who can remotely monitor your glucose data and trends on their compatible smart device with the Dexcom Follow app. Share and Follow functions require an internet connection.
• Health App access so you can share retrospective glucose data with third party apps
• Today view widget, which allows you to view your glucose data on the lock screen of your smart device

Apple Watch

View your glucose information, trend graph, and alerts and alarms right from your wrist with the Dexcom G5 Mobile Apple Watch app:

• Use the digital crown to scroll through 1, 3, or 6 hours of glucose trend data
• Dexcom G5 Mobile complications allow you to view your glucose number and arrow from your watch face
• Add the Dexcom G5 Mobile app to the Dock and enable background refresh for best performance

Complication

Update: Not sure if the alerts were toned down for this update or not, so I'll leave the original review below. The blood sugar complication on the Apple Watch face is a much welcomed addition. I can now use the watch as intended instead of keeping the Dexcom app open at all times. It may seem petty, but a quick glance at my bloodsugar, weather, etc all at once makes for a much nicer user experience than having to push a couple buttons to access. Add me to the list of people not happy with the new alerts. The app needs to be recoded to respect the current sound status. If I have on do not disturb, I don't want my phone vibrating all night long. I have my additional receiver for that. Same with silent mode. My phone should not be bypassing that setting to send out audible alerts. Also, since I'm already complaining, can we finally have the bloodsugar show up on the lock screen with the alert? As well as a snapshot of the reading on the Apple Watch face?

Life-Changing App that Lands Shy of Perfection

Hello, I've been using the G5 app for as long as it's been available and love it, as well as the companion app for the Apple Watch. The ONLY things that cause me to give anything less than full-throated support are the volume controls. Because alerts are allowed to override the "silent" setting on my phone, they directly conflict with the app's otherwise seamless integration with my lifestyle. I definitely appreciate that many people may need this feature, but I would wager that many don't. I suggest that each alert has a user setting to opt in/out of the silence override. Alternatively, as a half-measure, perhaps the UI could be updated to show the alert type from the "Alert" main screen so that the user doesn't need to go into each listing individually to see which sound/vibrate option they've chosen. Ultimately, this app is game-changing, which is why this frustrating feature stands out so starkly.

Apple Watch app crashing

***1/9/2017 update *** Finally we now have an updated glucose complication that is updated on the Apple Watch watch face. Thank you!! ***Update*** I had to uninstall the app and re download it to correct my Apple Watch app force closing. All is well minus the fact that I lost my last 24 hours of data in the app. This should also be backup up in the cloud. **original review** With the update today (11/1) the dexcom app on my Apple Watch keeps crashing. Please fix asap.

Very stable and helpful app

Always been very stable and works great for me. I love not having to carry my receiver around and having my BG on my wrist. So convenient. The most recent update is even better! I like how it stays silent for the first alarm, but overrides for consecutive alarms. I must be in the minority, but the recent update works perfectly for me. If you set it up correctly, you can do two things: 1) Have all alerts only vibrate. 2) you can have it vibrate first and only make a noise if you don't respond. You have to dismiss the alert within the app. If everyone would just take a second to learn about the new app and the features that are meant to be an improvement, you would see that this app is very well designed and accommodates everyone (the people who like the old app and the people who want to audio override). All in all, thank you Dexcom! Very happy customer here with the recent update, please don't roll back! For those with issues, call customer support and they will help you better understand the features. The current (new) app can be silent all the time, you just need to adjust some settings and I'm sure they should be able to show you how. Not a Dexcom employee, just someone who works by the software industry and is willing to change to accommodate a diverse user base with different needs. Remember: this current update accommodates everyone (those who want silent and those who don't). You just need to work with Dexcom to understand the settings available to you and adjust yours.

Watch needs a better complication!

Spoke with Dexcom- they were not aware that watchsugar app allows you to see your number and the direction it's going in the complication- please update so we can see it in the complication! Dexcom told me that they will look into this if more people call Dexcom to complain... please Dexcom! update the app!

Alarms and low storage space warnings

Please allow me to turn off the audible alarms. Although I suspect that my iwatch problem is Apple please at least allow the notification acceptance on the watch stop it from alarming on the phone. I've had to go back to the receiver because I cannot discreetly acknowledge the alert in the middle of a bus dined meeting. Secondly quit warning me that storage is almost full. iOS will clear up low storage. There is no way to do it yourself. The alarm is useless and annoying.
