The Independent Hardware Group (IHG), established November 2016, is the combined entity for the Mitre 10 and Home Timber & Hardware Group networks. It brings together leading independent hardware brands including; Mitre 10, True Value Hardware, Home Timber & Hardware, Thrifty-Link Hardware, Hardings and Hudson Building Supplies.
The Independent Hardware Group is AustraliaÍs only independent home improvement and hardware wholesaler to the industry. With ~750 Independent members in the combined Mitre 10 and Home, Timber & Hardware network, and over 500 non branded independent stores, IHG is integral to the continued growth of the independent hardware market.
Mitre 10
Mitre 10 is an independent, national retail network of over ~370 bannered Mitre 10 and True Value Hardware stores.
The Mitre 10 business became part of the Metcash family in 2012, when Metcash acquired the remaining stake in the business (it had held 50% of Mitre 10 for two years). Under the Mitre 10 network, hardware quickly became a core focus for the Metcash business, with a clear mandate to support the growth of the Independent hardware sector in Australia. This remains the focus today, with the recent integration of the Home Timber & Hardware Group, to the Metcash Hardware pillar.
Home Timber & Hardware
Home Timber & Hardware was established in 1993 as the result of a merger between Home Saver Timber & Hardware and Homestead Hardware. Home Timber & Hardware has a network of ~380 bannered stores including the Home Timber & Hardware, Thrifty-Link Hardware, Hardings, Hardware and Hudson Building Supplies brands.
