For a generation of young people raised on the internet, social media, and text messaging, the traditional approach to mental health awareness and stigma reduction just isnÕt working. ItÕs time to think outside the box. Jack.org is the only national network of young leaders transforming the way we think about mental health. 1 in 5 young Canadians are affected by mental illness but only 1 in 4 of those will get the help they need. Nonetheless, mental health is something that 5 in 5 of us have -- and we want to reach the 5 in 5. Jack.orgÕs initiatives are designed for young people, by young people. With programs such as Jack Talks, Jack Chapters, and our Jack Summits, we strive to continue the conversation around mental health and we will end stigma in our generation. . . . Jack Talks Ð Trained youth speakers who go into schools to fight stigma and spread the message that we all have mental health. With a professionally developed curriculum, younger speakers will share tools, tips and experiences to help audiences understand mental health and how to look out for each other and themselves. Jack Chapters Ð Our student teams increase the knowledge and raise awareness about mental health on their campuses. They are working to build a movement that shifts the attitudes and decrease the stigma surrounding mental health. Jack Summit Ð Designed to build and support student leadership in mental health across Canada. We have both a National and various regional summits bringing student leaders together to learn from each other and bring the skills needed to elevate their impact back at home.
