Description:
Test Runner is a third-party, native IOS application that facilitates running tests in Jama Software. Created as a capstone project by computer science students at Portland State University, testers can now take Jama out into the field wherever they go. The application’s simple design allows users to easily execute their assigned tests in Jama and submit results when finished. While Test Runner is a free application, it requires the purchase of a hosted license for Jama.
Features:
Users can view and execute tests on the go. This app largely mimics the workflow of Jama’s Test Center as follows:
1. Users log in to the app with their Jama credentials, including username, password, and Jama
instance header (For example, “https://jama-instance.jamacloud.com” has the instance name of
“jama-instance”.)
2. Once logged in, users can view a list of projects they have access to.
3. When a project is selected, all available Test Cycles will appear in the next window. The Test Selection
window is comprised of three indented layers within the Test Center suite:
a. Test Cycle selection
b. Test Plan selection
c. Test Run selection
4. Only current Test Runs that have been assigned to the logged-in user will appear. If no current
Test Runs have been assigned, none will appear.
5. Users are then able to go through Test Steps for each Test Run, in any order, adding additional notes
and images, and assigning a Pass/Fail status for each step.
6. Test Runs can be blocked by the user or submitted if all Test Steps have been assigned a Pass/Fail
status.
This application was developed by PSU’s Spring/Summer Capstone team, nicknamed “Jaca,” and is published on GitHub here: https://github.com/CapstoneTeamA/Mobile-Test-Runner-for-Jama under an MIT open source license.
