Description:

The "Digital Director" App is an interface between Canon and Nikon digital cameras (DSLRs) and an iPad.
This intuitive App gives you control of your photo and video workflow, enabling you to shoot remotely and manage all key camera parameters (e.g. aperture, shutter speed, ISO - and much more) right from your iPad.
Use it to quickly and easily set up an intervalometer or time lapse session and to remotely control up to thirteen Manfrotto LYKOS & Litepanels ASTRA lights via Bluetooth. Touch your iPad screen to determine your focus point and confirm critical image focus with "focus peaking" and digital zoom; correct exposure with the Zebra filter.
The app's layout is easily customizable (standard, full screen, portrait) to suit your preferences.
Download your still images onto the iPad for post-production and share your images via the social network of your choice, by e-mail, FTP or your computer via Wi-Fi web server – from the "Digital Director" App.
With the Manfrotto Digital Director Plug-in for Adobe Lightroom for desktop you can also import the additional Digital Director metadata of pictures you’ve shared from Digital Director – via Wi-Fi web server, e-mail and FTP – into Adobe Lightroom for desktop.

The "Digital Director" App requires the additional DIGITAL DIRECTOR hardware in order to operate.

Still Missing Critical Features

I am happy with the device itself, but as I've written before, the app needs to be updated and expanded to include more features that are useful to Camera Operators and Cinematographers. The emphasis that Manfrotto has put on still shooting while only giving lip service to the video operator is really disappointing and I'm afraid is a direct indication that they have all but given up on the product all together. This is all deeply disheartening as I generally really love all of my Manfrotto products.

Great Product with terrible app..

I love my digital director and use it everyday. I no more use cameras viewfinder. But the app is complete failure.. shuts down by itself at least 5-6 times during each shoot which ruins the whole satisfaction. But the worst part is that Manfrotto doesn't care about it. Doesn't update app at all. Reason for 3 stars instead of 1 is that product itself is not bad.

Does not work with latest iOS

I have the iPad Air version of the Digital Director and the app does not recognize the Digital Director anymore. It just shows an error saying "Cannot use device. The connected device is not supported." I have looked around looking for a solution and many people are having the same problem but there has been no support or attempt to fix this issue. This are not cheap products and now they are obsolete without the app.

Still Missing Critical Features

I was really happy to see the Digital Director come out for the iPad Mini and I waited for the Mini 4 version specifically. After using the interface and software for a while in a production environment as a documentary video Cinematographer. I like the lightwiegth nature of the rig but I feel the software is definitely falling short in terms of what is needed for onscreen information while shooting video. While Zebras and Focus Peaking are greatly appreciated and usefull, there another couple of things that would really bring this product into a whole other range. 1. A waveform monitor in addition to the zebras would make exposure way more accurate than just a histogram. 2. On-screen title-safe and action-safe zones. 3. Framing marks and on-screen confirmation text for a selection of film standards such as 4:3, 16:9, 1.78:1, 1.85:1, 2.35:1 and 2.39:1 4. A more visible and sensitive audio meter in video mode. The above items would bring this product into an everyday use item rather than as a backup or secondary to the smallHD 7" montitor that I use now because it gives me the information I need each time I shoot. Please add these small items to a future software/firmware release and I will forever sing your praises. Also, could you please let the folks at HQ know that I would love to have a sunhood from you guys that would fit the Mini 4. The only sunhood available only fits the iPad Air. Thanks Guys, JIM

great. needs a few more features

Love this. It does need a couple of more features to make it more professional use. First, we need to have different aspect ratio crops for viewing and proper framing such as 2:35 to 1. Second, many video shooters use a flat video profile such as canon cLog. We need to have 3D LUTs available to make viewing on the monitor look more like the final product. Small HD and other monitors have done these features nicely.

This app used to work great with my 5DMiii and 6d, now it won't recognize either of them. Please fix whatever you screwed up in the last updates!!
Metal
Render advanced 3D graphics and perform data-parallel computations. Get fine-grained access to the GPU while minimizing CPU overhead. The Metal Framework provides extremely low-overhead access to the GPU, enabling incredibly high performance for your sophisticated graphics rendering and computational tasks. Metal eliminates many performance bottlenecks—such as costly state validation—that are found in traditional graphics APIs. Metal moves all expensive state translation and compilation operations out of the critical path of your most performance sensitive rendering code. It provides precompiled shaders, state objects, and explicit command scheduling to ensure that your application achieves the highest possible performance and efficiency. Graphics, compute, and blit commands can be used together seamlessly and efficiently. Metal is specifically designed to exploit modern architectural considerations, such as multiprocessing and shared memory, to make it easy to parallelize the creation of GPU commands.
