We are Mather LifeWays„a unique, non-denominational not-for-profit organization based in Evanston, Illinois, founded more than 75 years ago. We are dedicated to developing and implementing Ways to Age Well by creating programs, places, and residences for todayÍs young-at-heart older adults. It is the sum of our parts„our three areas of service„that showcase the depth of our organization. We provide a continuum of living and care through our senior living residences, which include Life Plan Communities in Evanston and Tucson, and an independent living community in Wilmette, Illinois. We make neighborhoods better places for older adults to live, work, learn, contribute, and play through our community-based initiatives, which include three Chicago locations for MatherÍs„More Than a Caf_ as well as ñwithout wallsî programs that provide community-based classes, events, and luncheons for older adults. The success of our Caf_ concept encouraged us to show other organizations how to create similar experiences. Mather LifeWays Institute on Aging conducts applied research for professionals who serve older adults. Staffed by esteemed researchers, the Institute is an award-winning resource for research and information about wellness, aging, trends in senior living, and successful aging service innovations. In 2013, Mather LifeWays was recognized as IllinoisÍ Healthiest Midsize Employer, and were named one of ChicagoÍs Top Workplaces by the Chicago Tribune for the fourth year in a row.
