Minor League Baseball (MiLB), headquartered in St. Petersburg, Florida, is the governing body for all professional baseball teams in the United States, Canada, Venezuela, and the Dominican Republic that are affiliated with Major League Baseball (MLB) clubs through their farm systems.
MiLB has over 105 million fans in the United States and is endorsed by one of the most balanced gender splits in all of professional sports (52% male/48% female). Fans are coming out in unprecedented numbers to this one-of-a-kind sports and entertainment experience that can only be found at our ballparks. In 2013, the 176 clubs that charge admission attracted more than 41.5 million patrons to see the future stars of the sport hone their skills. This marks the ninth consecutive year that the industry has topped 41 million fans.
The average cost for a family of four to attend a game, park their car, get a program and feed the family is below $65, a fraction of the cost that other professional sports leagues charge. After 100-plus years, Minor League Baseball continues to provide an affordable, accessible, and exciting entertainment option for fans of all ages of which local communities are proud to be a part.
The Minor League Baseball Office is involved in various business ventures and represents its member leagues and teams in negotiations with Major League Baseball. Through its subsidiaries, Professional Baseball Promotion Corp.; MiLB Enterprises; Professional Baseball Employment Opportunities (PBEO); Baseball Internet Rights Corporation (BIRCO); and Professional Baseball Umpire Corp. (PBUC) it works in the areas of marketing, promotions, licensing, legal affairs, office employment recruitment, digital and interactive media rights and the training and evaluation of umpires.
