Music Worcester, Inc. - originally known as the the Worcester County Music Association, and then the Worcester Music Festival when it ran for only one week during the year - is a non-profit cultural organization and has been the presenter of exceptional performances since 1858, including the season of Worcester's own Worcester Chorus. Over the years Music Worcester has merged with The International Artists Series and The Mass Jazz Festival. The organization also includes a volunteer arm, The Music Guild. The Young Artist Scholarship Competition and the Dr. Gerald Mack Music Scholarship Award are presented to youth each Spring, encouraging young musicians. Tickets to Opportunity and other outreach initiatives are also part of the organization mission.
Music Worcester presents a season of concerts from October through June every year in the best venues in Worcester, including Mechanics Hall, Tuckerman Hall, Hanover Theatre, colleges, churches, schools, and other locations. Tickets to all events are available on-line from MusicWorcester.org, by phone 508.754.3231, at the office weekdays 323 Main Street in Worcester, and at the door the evening of performances.
The Worcester Music Festival is the oldest Music Festival in the United States and carries a rich history. Since 1858 it has been active in presenting great performances by world-renowned orchestras and guest soloists, chamber music, ballet, world music and dance, jazz and choral masterworks. Music Worcester Inc. has made a tradition of excellence" its hallmark and has been recognized by the Library of Congress.
