PIDC is Philadelphia's public-private economic development corporation. Founded in 1958 as a non-profit, joint venture between the City of Philadelphia and the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, PIDC's mission is to spur investment, support business growth, and foster developments that create jobs, revitalize neighborhoods, and drive growth to every corner of Philadelphia.
To achieve its mission PIDC attracts, manages, and invests public private resources in the clients, communities, and markets that energize Philadelphia's economy.
A thirty-member Board of Directors appointed by the Mayor of Philadelphia and the President of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce governs PIDC. The Staff includes 60 full-time employees and the annual budget is funded largely from service fees generated by PIDC's business activities.
