Description:

The developers would like to ask the users of this app for feedback regarding its usage. Specifically, the direct feedback we've received to date from clinicians and caregivers and the absence of events in the crash log do not correspond with the number of low-star ratings this app has received. Please note that this app is for use in clinical practice and should not be downloaded for novelty purposes. Thank you for your support.

The National Cancer Institute (NCI) Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (CTCAE) is a standardized system to quantify or grade the severity of adverse events (AE) that occur with drug treatment or from medical devices. A definition of mild (grade 1), moderate (2), severe (3) and life-threatening (4) events is provided for each AE term. The CTCAE v3.0 was published by NCI on Aug 9, 2006, and is used by many healthcare providers and researchers to characterize adverse events consistently.

The Center for Biomedical Informatics (CBMi) at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia has converted the 70+ pages of the CTCAE v3.0 document into an intuitive iPhone application. With this application, healthcare providers can reference the full CTCAE v3.0 with an iPhone or iPod Touch, allowing for bedside grading at the time of a visit and generally allowing the information to be accessed from anywhere at any time.

The application contains all published grading standards for all 28 categories of adverse events.

The application also offers a variety of advantages over the flat file CTCAEv3.0, including:
* Hierarchical navigation of adverse event categories
* Ability to bookmark adverse events and categories to quickly access frequently graded events
* Search for events across descriptions and categorizations

This application is one example of the many ways in which CBMi helps transform clinical care and research at our institution and across the industry.

The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia is a non-profit entity as defined by Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986.

4 star for now (pls, update to 2006 modification, instead of 2003)

I have found this app to be useful in documenting and grading adverse events in clinical trials and during line listing reviews (LLR). It is easily navigable and very easy to use. Updating the app to 2006 version which includes modifications made to the 2003 (older version) will make this a 5 star app. Avid user in clinical research Thousand Oaks, CA March 25, 2011.
