The Rival seeks to modernize campus news. The Rival is the first licensed student run national publication hyper-local to individual universities, giving students power and responsibility of publishing, managing, and marketing. We are a campus-centric publication, connecting each school under our corporate umbrella. We are located at 17 universities throughout the United States, attract more than 150,000 views per month, and serve more than 1 million users annually. Our staff is made up of 400+ student volunteers who create quality satirical, cultural and local content. Each site is customized to align with both the university's unique identity and The Rival's official brand standards. We provide students with an easy on-boarding process, i.e. helping master the editorial process, setting a launch date, creating their own marketing campaigns recruiting a staff, and creating their own topics fit for their campus culture. We also train them on our proprietary CMS technology, dubbed Newsroom. Once established, they're able to start developing their site by adding articles and creating staff profiles. We aim to provide news, of any subject, framed to entertain and inform the students of that community. The Rival aims to become the premier student news and opinion platform for all major universities across the country.
