Before then, no one organisation had the authority to promote gender equality on a global scale and address the serious challenges facing women and girls everywhere. In the UK, UN Women is represented through the National Committee.Our focus is on: - Raising Awareness of the issues, the challenges and the solutions developed by and through UN Women and our partners. - Advocacy by speaking up with and for others, and encouraging governments, the private sector and individuals to support our work here and around the world. - Activation - by sharing what we learn and raising funds for our important work to achieve gender equality. Our aim is to remove the social and cultural barriers that prevent women and girls from achieving their potential. As a champion for women and girls, we are a powerful voice at global, regional and local levels.
