The Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, founded in 1996, is the most modern of the public universities in the Madrid region. It currently has 42,000 students enrolled for formal qualifications, and is the public university with the second largest number of students in the region. URJC has five campuses: AlcorcÑn, Aranjuez, Fuenlabrada, Madrid and MÑstoles, and in this academic year, 2017-2018, sixty-one degree qualifications, of which nine are taught and studied in English and ten are of blended learning (face-to-face and online), seventy-six Double Degrees and sixty-nine university Master's programmes, which are in five branches of knowledge.
